During my Mastering JMP event last Friday a question came in on the chat about the possibility of having a JMP data table column being able to co-exist simultaneously in more than one data table group. I was out of time and didn't try this idea out live on the webinar...but playing with it this weekend it appears not?
I tried a couple different key stroke workflow ideas and none of them work. The only workaround I could think of was to create a completely new column with the same contents and just let JMP default to the new column name with the [2] that it appends when one inadvertently creates a column with the same name as a pre-existing column. Then just create that second group with the [2] column included. This might not be so bad anyways since you'd now have a little visual clue in reports etc. that you are working with this second group.
Or am I missing something? Ideas welcome.
