Calculate lag in two curvesI have a customer that produces rolls of film that that are 18” x 100’ which are cut into 6” x 6” sections. So you can imagine a grid of 3 lanes and 200 rows. They have a pretty good handle on the change in composition in the center lane as the film is extruded. Now, they want to understand the lag in composition in the left/right lane compared to the center. I showed him how to visualize this in a heatmap and how to take the difference between center and right with different lags to see which is closer to zero. However, is there a better way to calculate the lag? For example, if you had two sigmoidal curves, how can you determine the phase shift (these aren’t sigmoidal but that is the type of calculation he is looking for)? The answer needs to be in rows which is actually time.
I'm wondering if repeated measures mixed model or FDE could help. Would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks, Andrea
Re: Calculate lag in two curvesYour ideas are all good. You might also consider treating them as a time series to look at lags.
