Thanks very much to John Sall for presenting about hierarchical clustering improvements coming for large data tables in JMP 17 at this week’s dev meeting! If you missed it, you can find the recording here in OneDrive. (While that link is set up with permissions for everyone, you can also find a downloaded copy here.) These changes improve clustering performance significantly and will allow JMP to tackle genomics-sized problems much more efficiently.
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing the details of Beta/Crash/Telemetry tracks for the last 2 weeks! You can find these reports in JMP Live here: Beta/Crash/Telemetry tracks for the weeks of 9/10/2021 and 9/17/2021 | JMP Live (sas.com)

Updated system.clinical.preferences to allow new and pop-in reports to be placed in a more intuitive order within CDISC Class categories by default. Fixed Mac-specific bugs observed during Add sample study and running reports. Added multipleTreatmentFlag and getter/setter to StudyClass. Removed nonfunctional SAS- and XML-dependent code from study management UI and API operations.
Product Management
- Dieter: Spent the week learning about AWS AppStream and doing a test install of JMP PV, updated certs on live15auth with Josh and Chris and did customer calls.
Technical Support
- Duane: Tech support continues working with our customers, helping them get the most out of JMP. Nothing stands out as an unusual week, however. Here are the TS JMP Live reports. (JMP Live 16). Here is information regarding Jira tickets opened by TS.

Development Operations
- Nick: Updated parsing of Mac CI build warnings to use text finder plugin after the Jenkins XCode plugin stopped detecting warnings and updating build status to unstable after an XCode update.
- Jim: Working with Audrey on rebalancing the unit test runs across both OS and products.
- Bob: Investigating new release of InstallShield for Windows installers. Assisted new sales staff in understanding customer process for obtaining software. Testing 16.2 installers on Windows 11 VM. Will wait for production release to test again.
Documentation

- Audrey: Continued planning and implementing tooling updates for the JSL test framework.
- Hunter: Met with Bob about an issue with the Excel Profiler AddIn after upgrading to Windows Server 2022, defect verification, and more Windows 11 testing.
- Josh L: Refactored the JMP Live nightly auto install script to check that the JMPLive.exe has been updated prior to running. Dieter, Chris and I updated the live15auth Keycloak server to KeyCloak 13. We also installed the latest certificates so we are good for another year. Got caught on Jira stories and bugs, it shows in the Stories / Bugs Closed in the last 7 days report.
Cary / Beijing JMP Live Testing Jira Status
- 6 Stories in Testing
- 28 Stories in Test Ready
- 17 Bug Created in the last 7 days
- 37 Stories / Bugs Closed in the last 7 days
System/Host Testing-Beijing
- Eric Wang: (1) Added a set of jest integration tests for restriction of space name/key/description. (2) Jira stories/bugs testing. (3) Investigated test server issue. Beijing team's test servers were not able to access after update. Opening the JMP Live site got a blank page. This was not a JMP Live issue because it worked well if using the latest installer. I suppose this is caused by my build machine, but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. The workaround is, sync and build JMP Live separately on each server. I have updated the auto-update script and our servers are working well.
- Da Li: (1) Testing OSI PI Import. Basic import, Menu UI test done, other test are in-progress, see JMP-5783. (2) Verify new changes for GS import/export, see JMP-6199. (3)Jira stories/bugs testing. (4) Attend TiD Conference TiD 2021.
- Mike Wu: (1) Tested JSL promise support for ODBC import, see JMP-6210 . (2) Uploaded the OBDC related Mac unit tests to perforce of JMP 17.0, see JMPTEST-320. (3) Started the regression testing of JMP Html5 profiler, see JMPHTML-854. (4) Investigated TS report 7613421163.
- Kimi: (1) Testing Python Interface. Testing different versions of Python on the same machine. Testing Anaconda support. Tested unit tests for both JMP 16.2 and JMP 17. Details refer to BRDSTG-3162 . (2) Update Unit Testing Script for supporting ODBC on Mac, details refer to BRDSTG-3163. (3) Investigated unit tests failures. (4) Create Confluence page How to solve the failures are not caught as "known issues" by testing framework.
- Nala: (1) Testing JMP Live stories/bugs about JMP Publish, Move Posts.
Data Discovery
- Evan: Helping with some Sikuli issues. Looking into removing self-owned from RefTo. Working on search bar.
- Dave B: Fixed polygon annotation editing, fixed some problems with hover labels and data filter and working on others.
- Dan S: Updates to box callbacks to allow a direct call to a method of the JSL class that created the box. Work on Bubble Plot animation to reduce system overhead on Mac. Updates to JMP Clinical to use JMP 17 changes for New Window() to use Dialog type when menus/toolbars are not needed. Working on other Clinical updates to rerun portions of a report when filters change.
Host
- John Schroedl: Investigating 'Files In Directory' performance regression. Discussed FileSpec design changes with Aaron. Visual Studio assistance for various people. Code reviews.
HTML5
- John Powell: Created and submitted unit tests for PolylineSegment(ParallelPlot); found JMP-7043 and fixed an issue found while building unit tests. Updated my local JMP Live Server with help from Josh M. and Aurora. Changed the initial setting of the Local Data Filter’s ‘Auto update’ checkbox on JMP Live (JMPHTML-1212). Worked with Landra and Susan C to verify terminology and choose tooltip text for new Local Data Filter controls only available on JMP Live. Upgraded my Mac to Big Sur. Set up meetings for the end of our current sprint. Planned HTML5 Whitebox testing days to find bugs to fix before EA3. Taught Praveena a few things about HTML5 development.
- Bryan F: Added code to support faded colors for non-primary bars in Packed Bar Charts. Submitted code for partial port of jColor.cpp. The JMP.Color class uses the JavaScript class keyword and relies on prototypal inheritance as opposed to creating static and instance objects as we have been doing. Submitted test build of code that supports JMP.PackedBarSegment and noticed the regression tests have only 4 packed bar tests. Anna is adding more tests. Resolved an issue where the Mac build machines would sporadically go offline resulting in a failed build.
Upgraded Macs used for builds to Big Sur and iPad Mini that we use for testing to iOS 14.8.
- Mayowa: Worked on supporting custom font sizes in alphanumerical marker legend JMPHTML-1162 and bar chart labels JMPHTML-1122.
- Praveena: Completed the code set up on local machine, completed the Ethics & Compliance learning and Global Diversity, Inclusion & Bias Foundations learning. Continued the learning the tools and codebase with the help of team members, reviewing confluence documentations, running the build locally and debugging the code.
JMP Live
- Aurora: Access Control (make creator of a space an admin explicitly). Control Chart Warnings (Create new system comment on post for toggling the warnings enabled flag). Post Lists (remove some obsolete options in preparation for 17.0 changes). Miscellaneous (iteration retrospective, design reviews, troubleshooting database upgrade, Mac OS upgrade, Intro to GraphQL training).

- Mark: Answered questions in JMP Community. Assisted Di with presentation of Levey-Jennings control chart requests to Annie and Tonya. Assisted Bill Worley with review of third JMP Blog post about spectral data analysis. Finished unit test script for Profiler in Bivariate. Evaluating Easy DOE and determining unit testing strategy with Jacob. Helping Jeremy with background, design, and unit testing of analysis for dissolution curves in Fit Curve. Attended 2 of 3 sessions of test teach of new JMSA for Di.
