How excluding each row in a formula?Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to create a new column with a formula in a data table.
This formula should give me the mean of another column, by category, excluding the actual row. So after Ican compare the row value with the mean of the group (without this row used in the formula).
Is it clear?
How can I do that?
Thank a lot,
Florence
Re: How excluding each row in a formula?Hi Florence,
One way to do this without having to exclude rows (here I use Car Physical Data's weight and type columns as examples) is to divide the difference of the current group sum and the current row value, by 1 less than the number of items in the group.
Cheers,
Brady

Re: How excluding each row in a formula?Hi Brady,
Thank a lot for your reply!
Your workaround is really good for mean. But what if I do not want to calculate the mean, but the median, the std or a personal equation?
I took the mean as it was easy to explain but the question is more general...
thank a lot,
