Hi Team,
How can I generate a two dimensional , joint normal probability distribution in X and Y and plot in JMP?
the sample picture is mentioned below.
thanks
Murali
Hi @Muralidhara ,
Although, JMP has a powerful graphing tool like Graph Builder and has the abiltiy to graph functions on x and y, it is not a mathematical graphing tool like Desmos or WolframAlpha. You can define a function for x and y and there is a function/formula graph element button, but you have to have some sort of data generated for that function to plot.
Take a look at the help for graph builder regarding formulas. Formula (jmp.com).
Cheers,
@Muralidhara,
The graph on the left is doable with some work. I've attached an example using a bivariate normal pdf. I would say the graph on the right either needs to be generated through JSL (with what I suspect would be a good deal of effort) or hand drawn.
@DonMcCormack ,
It looks like you re-produced the graph on the right of the post but not the left in the JMP file you attached. Is that what you meant?
You are correct. I switched right and left. The right graph is doable, the left, no.
Thanks a lot Don. This will help me.
