Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) (28FEB2021 – HMT T1)
Fast-growing Taiwanese semiconductor packaging manufacturer SPIL specializes in wafer bumping, wafer sort, assembly and testing.
Though the company has been a JMP customer for a number of years, it was only in early 2021 that senior leadership rolled out plans to implement widespread Six Sigma Green Belt training for its process engineering teams. The program was to be headed by Voca Lai, a data scientist with whom HMT Team 1 had long nurtured a relationship. When news of the training program reached the JMP team, they convinced their champion to select JMP as the core analytical tool for learning the DMAIC methods covered in the course.
"They found that the quality and process functionalities in JMP are very powerful for Six Sigma applications," Orcas Chen explains. "So they worked with us to expand their license for all trainees in the program." By the time the course ended in June 2021, the JMP team was able to begin working on upgrade opportunities. "We will also arrange an on-site visit to introduce JMP's powerful functionality with the aim of further expanding SPIL's licenses by the end of the year," he adds.
