How are you using the Analytic Workflow?
The Analytic Workflow has become well…a thing this year. It's proving to be a great way to drive awareness of all of JMP’s capabilities, paint a clear picture of how it all works together, and highlight where else in the organization JMP may apply.
Even though the workflow has been used for years, we are learning that with new resources and messaging, there has been stronger sales adoption as a lot of teams have made it a central part of their overall sales strategy.
Here is a list of different ways in which the workflow has been applied in conversations:
“I use the workflow page on calls to quickly/easily share all of JMP’s capabilities. This ensures awareness early on in the sales cycle and allows me to broaden the conversation and scope of potential users when scheduling demos”.
- Stuart Neighbors, Inside Sales, Americas
Melisa Muhamed
Zhaobin Wang“We use it through out a whole sales pitching conversation to paint a forward looking, companywide adoption picture for the customer."
- ZhaoBin Wang and Melissa Muhamed, AE, Asia
Pin Hu“I use the workflow in my journal which gives a nice opening to demos on how we position JMP as an end-to-end solution.”
- Pin Hu, SE, Asia
Dan Valente“I have seen a team virtually whiteboard the customers pain points and then use the workflow slide to map where those pain points apply. Also, the workflow is an ideal way to sneak JMP Live into customer calls and show where it fits in this journey.”
- Dan Valente, Manager, Product Management
“I joined a customer call where the workflow slide was being shown. The customer said 'Hold on, I didn’t know JMP did reliability. We should get our reliability manager on the call.' Perfect example of bringing awareness to other areas of the organization that may not have known about JMP's capabilities.”
- Sara Doudt, Product Marketing Manager
Mary Loveless“SE’s use as a tool for discovery calls and mapping the flow of the demo. We use it as a bookend. They start with it and walk through what they are going to show. And also at the close at the end, revisiting what they showed and incorporating what it could be. We call it the art of the possible.”
- Mary Loveless, SE Manager, Americas
Damian Carville“We have had a few customers in the last week take the workflow and present it back to teammates”.
- Damian Carville, AE Manager, Americas
Adrian Turner“We had a customer who has actually put it on their internal website so that when people wish to request their products, they can see what JMP does.”
- Adrian Turner, European Sales Director, EMEA
Mia Stephens“I have been using the analytic workflow in all my customer interactions. It totally helps with roadmap questions. It sets the context for conversations around what we’re working on now and what we might work on in the future”.
- Mia Stephens, Principal Product Manager

Powerpoint TemplatesWorkflowsRe: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?I can't think of a time where the workflow wouldn't be worth sharing. It almost says enough, without even speaking to it. While you're talking, have it in the back. Someone whose mind is wandering may learn something about the tool and the capabilities, or be thinking of that other tool that they use for that other thing. It's a really nice consolidated slide about where JMP fits and can get people thinking about expansion and growth from very early stages.
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?@dara_hammond Can't agree more!
I always have this thought, the workflow works like a restaurant menu, perhaps today I would love to have 'Data Visualization' as my dinner, I am craving for it and I found it in the JMP menu, during the process of glancing through the menu, other dishes are consciously/subconsciously embedded into my brain.
Now, I am done with my dinner and I am loving it, so the next day when I am craving for 'Predictive Modelling', naturally JMP menu flashes in my mind because my last dinner was unforgettable.
So the workflow serves like a Menu, as a restaurant operator we might or might not know what the customer is craving for next and we should care less about that because we have the Menu! Every time we serve our first dish right, the customer will definitely come back for more
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?I think that JMP is not only a software that analyzes data, but it can also be viewed as a tool that communicates the analysis process and its results. Statistical thinking is process thinking in other words.
As could be seen from Six Sigma, IPO (Input, Process or Processing, Output) or SIPOC (Stakeholders, IPO, Customers) is a typical framework of Statistical thinking. JMP's analytic workflow is like them. JMP's analytic workflow will be a great milestone for both those who analyze data and those who communicate with data. this will be useful for SEs first of all and it will be even more helpful for them, from people who draw a small graph to people who want to draw a big picture of digital transformation.
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?@malcolm_moore1 - sounds like a great blog post
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?Hi Malcolm,
I think about these with JMP sometimes.
detective, discovering, Float like a bufferfly an sting like a bee, Look at the forest and then look at trees,,,
Thanks
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow? Most JMP users have no interest in workflow that JMP can do. Some users just focus their own interest of specific JMP feature such as DoE, or even some users don't know JMP can import data using ODBC.
At first, novice of JMP users are really delighted with JMP's Graph Builder, Column Switcher, Bubble plot...
As they are getting more used to JMP, they want to know how they can import their data in their own DW, and how they can automate their data importing / pre-processing / analyzing / returning the output to database / sharing insight with their colleagues.
This JMP's Analytic Workflow is really helpful for companies which are preparing Industry 4.0 and Digital Transfirmation.
Moreover, the whole process can be done with JMP.
As a more than 30 years experienced data scientist, I convinced that this message has impact and implicative meaning of data analytic process.
In South Korea, there are already prepared companies, but the number is not so much.
It can be shared and proposed to almost every companies in South Korea.
Thanks for your support, Product Management Team.
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow?Hi @saradoudt, the slide decks have the old template (from SAS). Could they please be updated?
In local languages too: https://sasoffice365-my.sharepoint.com/:f:/g/personal/sara_doudt_jmp_com/ElyFGmytSbpLs-roPFa-WUQBrfQeS9YW3TE1Wk0D9aXtaQ?e=AlggF5
THANKS!
Re: How are you using the Analytic Workflow? You make some great points IkjuShin. Have you come across the work of the New Zealand based Census at School group? They have defined a data detective process.

For me JMP has been designed to help get the most useful insights from data using a process of statistical discovery and enabling our users to become a data detective.
The Analytic Workflow describes the capabilities we provide to become a data detective – a mixture of data access, data preparation, data collection (DOE), data exploration, data analysis, statistical modelling, machine learning, …, and presentation capabilities needed. Further standard reports and repetitive tasks can be automated to save yet more time.
