Venus Fashion (15 Jun 2021 – US Southeast)
Venus Fashion, a clothing and swimsuit retailer headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, recently acquired two JMP Pro licenses.
Venus had been using SPSS but was looking for a more effective modeling tool and a way to perform text analytics. The sales process began when Diana Sindicich, Senior Analyst for Venus' Marketing Analytics and Optimization Group, downloaded a JMP trial. Wendy Cottle followed up with Diana by sending her information on new functionality in JMP 16. When Wendy discovered Diana’s interest in sentiment analysis and term selection, she set up a JMP Pro demonstration.
Wendy says, “After the sales team showed Diana just how much value there was in JMP Pro, she requested an evaluation. Before providing the JMP Pro eval, however, we set specific evaluation criteria and required the economic buyer to join the process. Diana introduced us to her manager, Paul Simpson, Director of Marketing Analytics & Optimization.”
Ross Metusalem worked very closely with Diana during the evaluation period to make sure she was proving out the criteria for a successful evaluation of JMP Pro. Wendy continues, “We assisted Diana with very clear ROI definitions that would make an impact to the company’s bottom line. We also attributed what we call 'soft dollar value' to specific features of JMP Pro that reduced the risk to the organization.”
But then, in the final week of the evaluation period, the economic buyer threw a huge curve ball and asked the team to convince him why he shouldn’t just buy standard JMP. Brian Washington convinced the director of the team to allow them to present a final demonstration to prove the value (and to justify the additional expense) of JMP Pro. “Ross worked closely with Diana to benchmark the improved models using JMP Pro, and the results were so compelling the director signed off on the purchase of two JMP Pro licenses,” concludes Wendy.
Armed with JMP Pro, Venus will now be able to build more advanced models than it could with SPSS. Venus will also be able to incorporate unstructured data (which was not being used) to show better modeling results around catalog response, seasonal affinity, churn and lifetime value.

Shin Zu Shing Co. Ltd. (31 Mar 2021 – HMT T2)
Shin Zu Shing Co. Ltd., which manufactures precision wire and planar springs for medical apparatus, mechanical equipment and electronics, recently added seven more JMP licenses, bringing its total to 17.
R&D Manager Ian Su discovered the powerful graphics capabilities of JMP, becoming the first JMP user in his department. Using DOE and MSA in JMP, Ian successfully established a high-quality test report that reached consensus with customers. In the flatness test of the planar springs, Ian analyzed the key factors using DOE in JMP, which greatly shortened the development time of new products.
Tyson Wu says, “Due to Ian’s excellent performance, this high-quality test report has become an important standard for the department. As a result, many of his R&D colleagues started to learn JMP, which led to Shin Zu Shing adding seven new licenses.”
