These slide decks are meant to be used during JMP Live discovery calls to help communicate some of the features around JMP Live that are not typically discussed in the demo. We have added notes to each slide that explain why that slide exists and what should be covered. This deck is just a starting point so feel free to customize. If you have questions about the PPT or requests for new slides, please reach out to Sara Doudt.
Experience has shown that for the most successful JMP Live demos:
- AE facilitates the call and covers non-technical slides, especially the workflow, why we are here and the use cases/what we think we know slides (this allows any new information to be shared and to allow the SE to possibly adjust the demo if needed).
- SE does the demo.
- Dieter covers technical slides and answers any technical questions.

Suggested questions to ask the customers before the demo:
- How do you currently share reports/information?
- With whom do you need to share information? how many of them are JMP users vs non users? C-level? Team? Internal vs external?
- How often are reports updated?
- Where do you/your team/your dept currently store all of your analyses?
- How do you collaborate with other groups?
- How important is it to have interactivity in your reports?
- How large are the reports that you are sharing (number of rows)?
- Do you have a review process for data analysis (person -> two person team -> team -> management for example)?
- What other type of collaboration tools do you use – teams, sharepoint, yammer, etc?
- Are you pulling data from multiple sources on a continual basis?
- What type of analysis are you typically producing regularly, sharing?
Why are you considering JMP Live – what pain points do you think it will address?
- Distribute JMP reports (instead of email, shared folders).
- Make JMP reports available for non-JMP users (with data filters).
- Publish reports that are created automatically (daily “X” report).
- Have a repository for project data and reports.
- Prepare decision alternatives for managers (typically non-users).
- Automate data prep without pains of setting up data source access.
- Deploy dashboards to visualize data.
- Deploy visual dashboards instead of add-ins.
- Share interactive analysis reports for consumer understanding.
- Create interactive charts with data currently stored in multiple sources.
- Create a shared, interactive dashboard to more effectively collaborate.
Other good things to know about account pre-demo:
- Who is going to be in the room – all JMP users? IT? Management?
- Current number of JMP users – makes the pricing conversation easier
- Number of potential JMP Live consumers
- Is JSL widely used in their organization? And to what level of JSL knowledge (novice, intermediate, power users)?
Other best practices for presentation/calls:
- Start a group chat with JMP team before call to be able to send comments, notes back and forth.
- Make sure you are always in presentation mode so notes don’t show.
- Use the same photo for ppt, webex, and JMP Live profile for consistency and personalization.
- Turn off your notifications!!! Chat, teams, email….
- Make sure you are using latest ppt which is available on FAQ page.
- Use spaces (on mac) to move from JMP to JMP Live easily.
- Make sure your desktop is clean – not a lot of files, junk showing.
- Have the JMP Live FAQ page open on your screen (use CTRL +F to easily search page) if a question comes up that you don’t have the answer.
- You can also have the JMP Live Quick guide printed or available for some of the more basic information.
- If you don’t know the answer to a question, it is perfectly fine to say. “great question. I don’t know the exact answer to that, but I will write it down and get an answer to you quickly.”
