SVDD is an unsupervised SVM it is extremely useful eg for process control (use change of moving average in SVDD for signal detection) or for identifying the optimum space when defining raw material specifications (can be also used to check CoA consisting of many release criteria) . Is able to provide highly non-linear decision boundaries for finding groups/clusters and can be used to define difference from a multivariate target.
