Haesung DS (04 Mar 2021 – South Korea T1)
Haesung DS, which manufactures PKG substrates and lead frames for semiconductors, bought 10 JMP licenses in March.
Engineers in Haesung first downloaded the JMP trial in December 2020 to see how it compared to Minitab. The South Korea T1 team maintained regular contact with Haesung to make sure the potential users had all the materials they needed to make a decision. IkJu Shin also conducted an onsite seminar at Haesung in Changwon to demonstrate how JMP could help Haesung and to uncover future opportunities. IkJu anticipates that Haesung will purchase additional licenses later this year.

Form Energy (19 Apr 2021 – US New England)
Form Energy, the Boston-based manufacturer of a new class of cost-effective, multiday energy storage system that enables a reliable and fully renewable electric grid, recently added 15 JMP licenses.
Form Energy had two JMP Pro licenses, but when the business hit a lull in 2019, it decided not to renew them. However, Form kept JMP in mind and continued to discuss the value that JMP could bring the organization once business picked up again.
When momentum resumed in early 2020, the team at Form reached out to JMP’s New England team to determine if JMP could help accelerate insight in R&D, specifically when compared to Form’s current mix of Excel and open source.
Josh Staunton says, “Form wanted a solution that could support everything, ranging from 'just a bit more than what Excel can do' in terms of visualization, all the way to SQL queries and complex (non)linear modeling.”
When they mentioned they were also considering Minitab, the New England team proposed that Form download the 30-day JMP trial and then supplemented it with an onsite Getting Started workshop for the 10 initial users who would be part of the “bake off” between the two competing solutions.
“Additionally, we connected the Principal Materials Scientist leading this initiative at Form Energy to call a JMP champion at Duracell, another battery company, for a reference. Our Duracell champion, who was well-versed in the Minitab vs. JMP discussion, was able to reinforce our message with his experience using both.
“After doing trials for both JMP and Minitab, the users unanimously chose JMP because of its ease of use, interactivity of analysis, DOE platform and the local support that only JMP could offer,” concludes Josh.
After the initial purchase of 14 JMP licenses in March 2020, Form recognized the continued value of JMP and expanded its JMP footprint to 35 users in April 2021.

Samyang Corporation (30 Apr 2021 – South Korea T2)
Samyang Corporation, the South Korean chemical and food manufacturer, became a JMP customer when it acquired three licenses.
Ayoun Cho, manager of Samyang’s Technology Strategy team, had used JMP when she worked at OCI, and she played an important role in getting Samyang to adopt JMP. Having struggled with Excel for data analysis and visualization, Samyang planned to find a better tool in early 2021. Cho downloaded the JMP trial in December 2020. HaeYoung Kim followed up by offering an onsite seminar in early April, which five prospective users attended. Once they saw just how powerful JMP’s visualizations were and how easy it was to share the results, Samyang bought three licenses just a few weeks later.
