K-fold cross validation leaving partition platformI was caught off guard by this just wanted to let people know that in JMP 16 you are not able to launch the k-fold cross-validation in the partition platform. You can still turn it on from preferences and it will auto-launch, but no way to turn it on after the fact. The workaround is to use Model Screening, but that is only for JMP Pro. It is rare for a feature to disappear from JMP, but that will be the case with k-fold in partition for JMP 17.
Re: K-fold cross validation leaving partition platformThanks, @phersh .
Good to know.
I know Chris G has said in the past that k-fold is NOT recommended for Partition. So presumably this is why it is being removed.
I've never actually tried it.
Cheers,
Phil
Re: K-fold cross validation leaving partition platformThe preference to turn it on will disappear in v.17? Will it still be available via JSL?
Re: K-fold cross validation leaving partition platformHey Nick,
Here is what I got for tech support on this.
K-fold for Partition is currently still available using scripting or the preference item but will be completely removed in JMP 17.
Re: K-fold cross validation leaving partition platformIn prior releases K-Fold in Partition was problematic and didn't really do what it claimed to which caused misleading results.
There is a Wish List entry asking for its return but I believe that is unlikely:Bring back the crossvalidation option in Partition platform menu
You'll find more details in Defect S0797819.
