Welcome to the JMP Development Update for April 23, 2021!
Thanks to Brian Corcoran and Audrey Shull for sharing the following exciting announcement as they work on a transition plan for a new hire:
Congratulations to new JMP Live developer Justin Chilton! Previously, Justin was a member of the JMP technical support team supporting JSL, and he has been part of Audrey’s host and system testing team for several years now. It’s been a pleasure watching Justin learn and grow over the years as he has assumed greater testing and development responsibilities. Justin recently completed his master’s in computer science at Georgia Tech and he is looking forward to new challenges with the JMP Live team!
We are nearing Code Approval Mode (and our string edit deadline) for JMP 16.1 on 4/27/21, with JMP 16.1 Code Freeze just around the corner on 5/14/21.
- Defects: Please continue to defer defects out of the 16.1 track if you do not plan to address the issue in that track.
- Jira: If you have an item open in Jira that has 16.1 only, or both 16.1 and 17.0, listed in the Affects Version/s field but you do not plan to address it in 16.1, please make a note in the item saying so. If you have already pushed a fix to main/17, your tester will then know that they can mark the item Accepted and Closed upon verification of the change in 17.0.
JMP 16 downloads are in full swing, and we can see them represented in this graph of our Full Installer Orders. This report is updated regularly in JMP Live. It is exciting to know that customers all around the world are taking advantage of the new features and fixes in 16!

Meanwhile, thanks to Tonya Mauldin for continuing to monitor internal crash reports and EA telemetry files. And big thanks to all of you internal JMP users for continuing to report your crashes and bugs. The information and test cases you provide are really the shortest route to an open issue that can be resolved for a future release!

System/Host Testing
- Mandy:
- Features and Bugs: Tested Tabulate Stack Group columns NF, wrote tests and worked on the demo with Chung Wei. Worked on a Developer build from Aaron on Mac with projects, opening and closing windows. Tested a new feature Chung Wei added to create a Data Table subset on opening by specifying N Rows at the beginning or end, or random rows. Tested the new Tables > Preview feature for 17.0 for Ernest and reported issues that he has fixed. Tried to replicate crash reported by Mike Anderson-Chung Wei pushed a fix for an issue for scroll locked columns.

TRYING to get a handle on the 2 noise issues with the image tests.
- Eric Wang: Testing JMP Live Jira items. Verify defects for SASINT. • Updated JMP Live JSL tests to use unique post/groups names to avoid conflict. Now they are named like 'test_001_xxxxxx', where 'xxxxxx' is an random 6-digit number BRDSTG-3120 .

Note from Shannon
Congratulations to JMP Live and HTML5 developer Josh Markwordt and his sweetheart Tatiana who got engaged this week! They met pre-pandemic as Tatiana was completing the nursing program at Duke, having gone back to school to change careers after ten years teaching kindergarten. Congratulations to the happy couple! And have a wonderful weekend, all!
