JMP Journals - 'Slides into Journal' slideshow not working with locked Journal in JMP 16

Hi all,

I used slides in my journals so far. In JMP 16 I like the new controls and also locking the journal for presentation.

However I found locking the journal makes the disables the slide forward/backward buttons, so that the slides are unavailable. Upon unlocking everything is of full functionality again.

Are slideshows only available in unlocked mode or is there a way to overcome this?

I am having the same issue and have not found a way to fix it.

These slideshows cannot be viewed while the journal is locked.

This is because the slides require sleight-of-hand; specifically, copying and pasting of hidden content. As copy and paste are editing commands, they are unavailable while the journal is locked.

In the immediate term, unlock the journal to view the slide show. In the longer term, I am have a question in to development to determine whether JSL supports checking and modifying lock status (I didn't find anything in help or the scripting guide.) Once JSL support exists for checking and modifying locks--highly desirable--I can reprogram the buttons to check, modify (if needed) and revert lock status, allowing the slideshows to work again.
