Tokyo Electron (Shanghai) Ltd. (25 Jan 2021 – East China T1)
Tokyo Electron (Shanghai) Ltd., the Chinese branch of one of the largest manufacturers of semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment in the world, recently acquired four JMP Pro and two JMP licenses.
Iris Yuan first approached the Shanghai division of Tokyo Electron (TEL) in August 2020, connecting with Cheow ChingHua, the director of Etching Equipment, via LinkedIn. She discovered that he was very interested in learning how to use data analysis tools to provide added value to customers while at their sites.
Iris says, “After the first demo with the etching equipment team, we organized a very detailed proof of concept (POC) for them that included data acquisition and cleaning, data distribution and visualization, what-if analysis, statistical modeling, and DOE. Mr. Cheow and the management team were very satisfied with our POC. They believe that JMP Pro will integrate well with the TEL’s smart manufacturing strategy.

Plessey Semiconductor (04 Jan 2021 – UK T2)
Plessey Semiconductor, a leading developer of advanced optoelectronic technology solutions, became a JMP customer with its initial purchase of 10 JMP licenses in January.
Headquartered in Plymouth, England, Plessey operates leading-edge 150mm and 200mm wafer processing facilities to undertake design, test and assembly of products, and a comprehensive suite of photonic characterization and applications laboratories.
Jaspreet Sandhu says, “After initially reaching out to a number of people at Plessey on LinkedIn to emphasize JMP’s strong presence in the semiconductor industry, we received a response from a principal engineer at Plessey. He said he was interested in learning more about JMP, especially since one of Plessey’s largest customers was a JMP user.”
Demos and tutorials on getting started with JMP soon followed. “The engineer was impressed with Graph Builder and its speed, specifically when compared to Minitab. We are looking to expand the account within the near future,” Jaspreet concludes.
