If you don’t know Jon Weisz, it’s time you did. He’s the guy who keeps us moving in the right direction to get JMP in the hands of scientists and engineers all over the world. He’s the guy who knows exactly how awesome we can be, and paints a picture for us to see how we’ll meet today’s market needs. And Jon is the guy who encourages us to have fun as a division, which means he won’t mind that we wrote this get-to-know article on his behalf. April 1 is, after all, his birthday. So, if you don’t know Jon Weisz, this probably won’t help much – but we hope it will bring a smile to your face.
Where was he born?
Ontario, Canada. Maybe. Possibly Montreal. He talks about Canada a LOT, so we think he might have started out there.
What was his first job?
Fixing truck tires as a child, walking miles in his bare feet in the Michigan snow.
In one word, what's the best thing about his current job?
JMP. Jon loves JMP so much he’d outlaw Excel in the division if he could. Oh, no. Now that we gave him the idea, he might just do it.
Three of his favorite hobbies.
Riding a bike with family. Riding a bike with a friend. Riding a bike alone.
Jon described in three words.
Jon Thomas Weisz
What book is he reading?
We bet it’s “The Bicycle Wheel” 3rd Edition by Jobst Brandt. No joke. He loves wheels so much.
What is Jon’s favorite movie genre?
History. Or maybe silly. Yes, silly. The sillier the better.
What is the first web page Jon goes to every day?
If Jon could have a dinner party with five famous people, who would they be?
Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Confucius, Emma Thompson, Jared Keeso
What is Jon’s favorite podcasts to listen to?
Name one JMP-related achievement that Jon’s proud of.
Convincing Building A to provide a covered bike rack so his bike doesn’t get wet when it rains.
Name one thing most people would be surprised to know.
Jon has been to a Supernatural fan convention. He took his daughter as a cover for his obsession with the show.
This or That... We think Jon prefers:
- A mountain holiday over a sea-side holiday. Or any holiday where his family can be with him.
- Cats and dogs. He could never pick. It would be like asking him to name his favorite child.
- Coffee over tea. And we’re talking really good coffee. Get Jon to make some for you one day.
- Graph Builder and JSL. The world would be incomplete without both.
- Picnic over restaurant if the beer is cold and the day is not too hot.
- A piece of dark chocolate over pie or cake.
- Late night over morning.
- Introvert over extrovert
- Silly over serious
- High Tech over Low Tech
Very nice:)I bet letterkennny is wondering about the peak of hits from all over the world.
And my girls would do everything to get to a supernatural convention, and I would be the first to use them to cover my own obsession (how many times a Winchester can be killed ...):D
