Subject: EU Discovery SCM call May 10
Date: May 13, 2016 at 6:36:49 AM EDT
Dear all,
Thank you very much for your time last Wednesday to join our post-conference review meeting. To recap, we discussed the following points which I will expand on underneath starting with “Breakout Sessions”.
1. Additional feedback on Discovery after time for reflection
2. Results from post conference survey to attendees
3. Paper selection process including timeline
4. Potential keynotes for Prague
5. Pricing and time line
Break-out Sessions
• Make the content available immediately after the event in video format (PPT content currently targeted to deliver on-line one week after the event but this year some difficulties delivering the videos by the service provider have delayed this).
• Introduce another parallel session making four in total
o Trade one keynote session
o Record more than one session
o Assess production value
• Too many manufacturing talks – can a broader representation of industry feature next year eg banking
Overall Conference
• Extend the conference by half a day
• Longer breaks so people don’t get overloaded with information. A bit too intense with the current back to back agenda
• I have attached Gerd’s feedback who could not attend the call this week including plenary speaker suggestions

Prague Speakers
• Ranga Yogeshwar (GER): http://www.yogeshwar.de/
• Frank Piller (GER): https://twitter.com/masscustom?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
• Charles Spence (UK): http://www.psy.ox.ac.uk/research/crossmodal-research-laboratory
• And a very different, but very entertaining one: Prof. Dr. Claus Mattheck: http://www.mattheck.de/english/english2.htm
• These are not in the field of statistics/maths, just entertaining very good talks.
• Tim Peake: I’m sure he could extoll the virtues of data & he has a BSc in something technical (Flight Dynamics according to Wikipedia), but basically, I think he’d be great!
• Bill Meeker. Well known, and I think he helped working out the reliability module in JMP.
• Bart Baesens: from Belgium, Big Data. Good presenter. http://www.dataminingapps.com/dma_staff/bart-baesens/. Has written several books, e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Analytics-Descriptive-Predictive-Network-Techniques/dp/1119133122/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1429799105&sr=8-6, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1119143985.
• Also Enrique del Castillo is a very good option, he could talk about Computer experiments, a rapidly growing field where JMP has done fantastic work (eg FFF designs).
• Ron Kennett – Quality by Design. Written a new book on Information Quality (not data quality)
I trust I haven’t missed anything but if I have please add to this list and respond to the group.
I will schedule some Discovery Prague meetings soon, so please look out for these and mark them in your diaries.
Best wishes,
Julie
