Alteryx as a competitor?Hi Folks,
Anyone run into Alteryx as a competitor? I see the post from Peter Bartell from a few years ago.

Any tips would help. Seems like a different animal than JMP since it's automation focused.
Thanks.

Re: Alteryx as a competitor?@chuck_boiler ,
I have not, but it could be a competitor in that they offer to be more hands off and no coding/analytics knowledge required to model. I see some leads in Salesforce from Alteryx have attended some webcasts in the past.

Re: Alteryx as a competitor?I've run into it being used by one of our existing JMP Pro accounts. They were using it for data prep and firmly believed that its data cleanup and reshaping capabilities were superior to JMP's, but they thought JMP had much more advanced analytical capabilities. This conversation was back in mid 2019, so it's possible that Alteryx has improved their analytical capabilities since. From their website, it looks like they package in some open source machine learning tools, maybe to plug that hole.
Re: Alteryx as a competitor?Yes, I've come across it when chasing an opportunity that was not in our core market - I think JMP was just "column fodder" in that case. In hindsight, the prospect was clearly already decided on Alteryx and the JMP value proposition was not relevant for them.
I don't see it being a competitor of JMP, although there is some overlap. I think it is more of presence in the SAS world. As @Ross_Metusalem says, Alteryx is focussed on the data prep and has a nice flow diagram interface. You could probably achieve the same things with JMP capabilities but it would be a very different user experience.
In conclusion, Alteryx is a good solution if the need is mainly around automation of a data preparation process and you only need limited analytics e.g. market segmentation or scoring.
JMP and Alteryx could be complementary solutions but it is worth keeping in mind that we are focussed on different markets.
Re: Alteryx as a competitor?I think it might be fun to talk to the customer about 'action recorder' in JMP 16.
