SAS Retiring WebEx on May 24In 2018, SAS introduced Microsoft Teams as our preferred global business communications and collaboration platform; JMP immediately did the same. While nearly everyone at JMP has fully adopted Microsoft Teams, there may be some occasional use of other virtual collaboration environments, such as WebEx.
While the use of WebEx has not been prohibited, Microsoft Teams provides everything you need to keep connected and productive, including calls, chat, meeting spaces, and full integration with Office 365 and other Microsoft products. For some time now, JMP has encourage the use of Teams for both internal and external use. Microsoft Teams will continue to be the preferred communications platform for SAS for the indefinite future, meaning we’ll continue to make enhancements to this platform. (For more information on Microsoft Teams, read the documentation.)
Given this increased focus on Teams, SAS has begun retiring duplicative technologies, including WebEx. SAS executive leadership has decided to retire the WebEx platform by May 24, 2021, saving the company approximately $1.1 million a year and showcasing our expanding partnership with Microsoft.
To help ease the transition for those who still use WebEx, SAS Cloud and Information Services has put the following ServiceNow Knowledge Base articles together. If you still use WebEx, please take a look at these articles and be sure you’re ready to move all your work to Teams by May 24.
If you have any questions about JMP’s use of Microsoft Teams (or other collaboration tools), contact Jeff Perkinson.
Microsoft Teams is JMP's preferred communications & collaboration platform.
Feature StoryRe: SAS Retiring WebEx on May 24Hi @lalaru ,
I thought Zoom was the approved and preferred platform for external customer engagements. Can you verify this for us?
Thanks,
Re: SAS Retiring WebEx on May 24Hi @chris_kirchberg
Thanks for the question. I just opened a ticket with Service Now track to check on SAS' official position. WebEx is soon to be the no-go...Zoom is certainly an approved option, but not sure how it compares to Teams in the "preferred" arena. I'll be back in touch.

Re: SAS Retiring WebEx on May 24Good question, @chris_kirchberg.
Teams does work with external attendees and can be used with customers where it is convenient.
For inside sales, account executives, SEs, technical enablement and marketing and customer care staff we have licensed Zoom for use with customers. As such, for those in the JMP division with licenses Zoom is a supported solution. Be aware that Zoom is not licensed widely across SAS.
Finally, we should use Teams for internal meetings.
