Augment with fold over unexpected settingshi, I have a 8-run ResIV design with 4 factors and want to augment this with fold over but just 3 of the 4 factors and for one a range change from 8-35 to 15-35. Doing so in the augment design platform, changing the range and press foldover I get settings which do not lay within the 15-35 range but have 42? this seems strange to me. Any explanation? Designs attached.
Re: Augment with fold over unexpected settingsHi Martin,
It is not normal to change ranges while doing a foldover augmentation. I'm not sure if that is a good idea.
To be honest, I'm not sure if using foldover is a good thing to do. It is an old way of doing things from the times when it was all done with pen and paper. Much better to define your objective for the next step and use a custom augmentation.
Still, JMP lets you change factor ranges and do the foldover so it should produce something sensible. And it hasn't in your case. So this seems like a bug.
Depending on what the objective is here it might be better to do the foldover and then manually change the settings for the factor where you wish to narrow the range. But again, I'm not recommending that approach - a custom augmentation is a better approach in general.
I hope that helps.

Re: Augment with fold over unexpected settingsHi Phil,
thanks, that helps a lot. I will submit a report to tech support. I agree using a custom augmentation, wanted to compare the customer's approach with the custom approach and saw this behavior, which I could not explain.
Thanks again,
Martin
