Seeking Discovery Steering Committee NominationsJMP’s Discovery Summit conferences bring hundreds of curious statisticians, scientists and engineers together for a unique learning experience second to none. But this magic doesn’t just happen – it requires countless hours of hard work and planning by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to making the experience one to remember. JMP Steering Committee members work closely with JMP staff to identify speakers, assemble the agenda, and help promote and grow the conference.
To ensure that future JMP Discovery Summit attendees enjoy the same awesome experience past attendees have, we need your help identifying the next batch of Steering Committee members. Nominations are now open for Discovery Summit Americas. Individuals who are selected for the committee will help guide JMP Discovery Summit US for the next three years, beginning in October.

JMP Discovery Summit Steering Committee Mission Statement:
The charter of the Discovery Steering Committee is to help grow the Discovery conference and to grow the use of JMP software for statistical discovery outside of the conference. Members of the Committee advocate the use of advanced analytics and educate others about the many uses of JMP with the goal of nurturing budding analytic champions whose statistical analysis weapon of choice is JMP. Also with the goal of nurturing JMP users – those at all levels of expertise, in a myriad of disciplines – Committee members work with SAS staffers to grow the Discovery conference annually into an important event that helps JMP users worldwide use the software more efficiently and comprehensively. Specific conference responsibilities include helping identify appropriate speakers, aiding in the selection of papers and posters, and acting as a host at the event in a variety of capacities. Committee members will also have a visible presence in conference promotional materials and will be expected to serve on the Committee for three years.

Customer CareEventsFeature StoryRe: URGENT: Seeking Steering Committee NominationsJMP Training traditionally had a representative on the steering committee. I am the current representative in my final year. I sent a request to Cat Truxillo (Advanced Analytics Education) to identify a replacement, assuming that the committee still wants someone from training team. I will remind her now.
Re: URGENT: Seeking Steering Committee NominationsThis is such a great opportunity to reach out to your champions -- or JMP users who aren't yet champions. If nothing else, it's a chance to let them know you respect their opinion and think they have something to offer. Your note could be something like this...
I may not have told you this, but I love that you make it a priority to attend Discovery Summits whenever possible. I do too!
You know that each region's conference has its own Steering Committee, made out of JMP users in that part of the world. What you may not know is that every year, some existing members leave the committee to make room for new ones--people interested in how the conference runs, and with a little time to help us select papers and posters. The conference organizers are in the process of inviting new members of the Steering Committee for Discovery Summit Americas. I think you'd be an awesome contributor, so I'm wondering if you are open to me recommending you to the organizers? There's no obligation on your part right now, and no guarantee that they'll select you. They try to find the right balance of JMP users from different kinds of industries and from different parts of the region, people who have experience with different JMP products or using our products in different ways, they want some JMP experts and some users who are less experienced... Personally, I think you'd bring a great perspective to the Committee. Any chance you're open to me giving them your name?
Re: URGENT: Seeking Steering Committee NominationsAnother thing to think about when adding to a Discovery Summit Steering Committee is our goal for diversity.
In addition to people in different industries and people who have different ways they use JMP, we want as much diversity as we can get. Different life experiences bring different perspectives to a group, and differing perspectives strengthen any board or committee.
