Sales Highlight
LFoundry (28 Jan 2021 – Italy & Middle East)
LFoundry, the Italian contract manufacturer of silicon-based microelectronic and microtechnical products, continues to increase its use of JMP, adding 82 new licenses.
LFoundry had been a subsidiary of SMIC, but the company was sold in 2019, meaning it would no longer use SMIC’s Manufacturing Execution System (MEC) to extract data from its databases when its license expired in December 2020. According to Mirco Nasso: “Instead of purchasing an MES from another software vendor, thanks to the knowledge and relationship established over the years with JMP, LFoundry decided to rewrite the database extraction programs with JSL. As a result, it purchased new JMP licenses to continue its production analysis and to improve the process.”
This sale didn’t happen overnight. Mirco says, “We started to discuss this project in December 2019 with our champion Felice Russo, with whom we have had a longtime relationship. We worked with him to arrange meetings with LFoundry’s IT department to demonstrate and reassure them that JMP could also be used in this context. Thanks to the knowledge that LFoundry’s engineers have acquired over their years using JMP and JSL, they were able to demonstrate how to build a new system for the IT department to extract the data themselves.”

Celebrating Black history, culture and achievement
As part of JMP's celebration of Black History Month, Nick Shelton created an interactive visualization of US Census data on high school graduation rates. His analysis shows a narrowing of the gap between graduation rates for Black Americans and the average rate for all students. In fact, Black female students have been outperforming that average rate in recent years.
