JSL Cookbook and ScriptsHi,
I would like to get your opinions on how to better utilize the JSL Cookbook and Scripts sections of the Community.
There are a few issues I think need to be solved:
- Uncertainty as to which board to use. @ih asked about the differences between the two in 2017, Cookbook v Scripts
- Scripts should undergo a review before publishing
- How can these boards help those asking questions in the Discussions board
- Are they still necessary? Would it be better to include as part of a Scripting section in Learn JMP?
Thoughts/comments?
Thanks.
Ryan
Re: JSL Cookbook and ScriptsFirst things that come to mind:
- I like the idea of having a place where users can contribute things they are proud of with a low activation energy. Either of these is a place where quite a few new users contribute which tells me you found that.
- I find myself on the cookbook and script sections regularly, but always from a web search, so for me today as long as google finds it it wouldn't matter where they are.
- Reviewing/updating these to use some set of best practices and flesh out comments would be great but I don't know who would do that. JMP interns?:)
- I still struggle with the difference between the cookbook and scripts, combining them makes sense to me.
- Learn JMP should be fairly refined, you don't want to potentially show people 'bad code' while still figuring out the difference between = and ==.
