No matter where in the world you are, there’s a good chance you’ll be a fan of chocolate chip cookies. But what makes one more appealing than another? That is the question! In the Discovery Summit Europe after-hours social on Friday, 12 March, we’ll answer that as attendees vote on the cookie photos.
Recipe
Preparation time 15 min
Cooking time 10 minutes
Total time 25 min
INGREDIENTS for 15 cookies
- 110 gr of unsalted butter
- 110 gr of brown sugar
- 100 gr caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp liquid vanilla
- 225 gr of flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 175 gr of dark chocolate (in chips)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Start by removing the butter from the refrigerator a good half an hour before so that it is soft.
- Preheat the oven to 170 ° C.
- In the bowl of your food processor, mix the softened butter with the sugars well until the mixture is homogeneous and airy.
- Stir in the whole egg, then add the liquid vanilla.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt well.
- Gradually add this "rain" mixture to the preparation while mixing.
- Finish by adding the chocolate chips which make the cookies so charming.
- Place balls of dough on baking sheets covered with silpat-type cloths, making sure that they remain well spaced from each other (the dough will spread out while cooking).
- Bake at 170 ° C and cook for 10 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack so that the cookies are crunchy
Photo Time
The photos you take of your cookies will be part of the experiment at the social, so we’ll need the photographs before that.
Ryan Lekivetz from our DOE team will tell you which factors – such as photo lighting, cookie presentation, accompanying beverage -- to consider when you take the photos.
Be Social
This will be the last session of the event, and it takes place Friday 12 March, 16:00-17:00 GMT. For those of you in a time zone that works, we'd love it if you could join us.
