I will schedule a call for us to finalize paper and poster presenters on May 18 from 11:30 am – 1 pm ET. I will send the meeting request soon.
Starting Feb 22, you can start reviewing and rating submissions. Re: Call for Content and Discovery DatesThanks @kathy_walker! As a new member of the steering committee, that video was helpful. Two questions for you:
1. I often encourage my students to submit abstracts. Is that still ok even though I'm now a judge? If they do submit, should I not judge their work out of fairness?
2. What if there are papers that I don't feel qualified to judge? If there's something in an area I don't know a lot about, should I judge it based on how interesting it seems to learn more about about? Or should I skip it?

Yes, it is absolutely okay to continue to encourage your students to submit an abstract. Please feel free to encourage students, colleagues, and anyone in your network you think might be able to provide interesting content within JMP. Within OpenWater where you will judge the abstracts you can opt out of reviewing abstracts that you either know personally or professionally and feel would have a biased review or are not a subject matter expert in the topic area. If you do think an abstract is interesting but have questions about it we can ask the submitter to clarify or provide more details. We will have a Steering Committee call after Call for Content closes to discuss the abstracts and your reviews. This is a great time to let the other Steering Committee members know what your excited about and be able to answer any questions.
