Transfer data from/ Excel/VBA to JMP and get data back to VBAHi, I'd like to describe what I need in order to have some kind of automation I'm planning.
I have a report I've already generated using Excel/VBA and I'm missing a distribution graph from JMP which is currently being made manually
And added to the report.
I'd like to know how can I send the data from Excel to JMP, generate the distribution graph and save it back to my excel sheet.
To be specific, let's say I have the data for the dist. graph on my "rawData" sheet at range(A1:A1000) in excel and would like to save the dist. graph from JMP to the "DistGraph" sheet.
Thanks in advance,
Liron.
Re: Transfer data from/ Excel/VBA to JMP and get data back to VBA@Lirsch ,
Everything on the JMP side is possible. You can definitely automate data import to JMP from Excel. A great way to get started is to do this using the GUI interface then grab the source script that gets generated in the JMP table. Save that to a new script Window then add the distribution analysis to the script.
As far as bringing that graph back out to Excel I am not sure if that is possible in an automated fashion. It is not possible to use JSL due to the syntax difference between Excel and JMP. You could save the distribution as an image, but not sure if that can be embedded into an Excel sheet or if that is what you are after. Is the end report in Excel?
Re: Transfer data from/ Excel/VBA to JMP and get data back to VBABetter to do everything from the JMP side, if possible. Because there is no error logging functionality when JMP is called from another program, you may not get error information if something goes wrong in the process. This may not be an issue if you're generating a small number of reports, but if you're creating dozens (or hundreds) you may not find problems unless you manually check the files.
