has anyone ever tried to create an add-ins in jmp pro to run a grid/random search like reported in this nice paper?

The same guy who made the super-handy NN scripts for building potentially thousands of models simultaneously, Diedrich Schmidt, told me in passing that he had done something similar for one (or even a few) other modeling platforms, but don't quote me on it, and I think he had just done it to speed up his own work (i.e., the scripts may not be readily available on a website). Maybe he will chime in.

Bagged trees and bootstrap forests can use a 'design table' where each row is a run of the model with a combination of hyper-parameter values.
