Application File Explorer callDear Community,
Now starting to develop my first Application, based on JMP Examples and a big working deterministic script (hard coded settings).
The aim is to be able to:
- Choose a File (dedicated App Builder object, or Pick File script?)
- Choose a Column to analyze (harcoded in current Script)
- Customize some settings (harcoded in current Script)
- Launch the main Script
The first step is where I currently struggle: could not find any example or complying object in the App builder, for this use.
In my current Script this is how it is managed:
//IST Text File
dt = Open(
Pick File(
"Select IST Text File",
"", // no default directory
{"Text Files|txt", "All Files|*"},
1,
0,
"" // no default file
),
Thanks, and Best Wishes!
OtherScriptingRe: Application File Explorer callI think it depends on how you want to the user interface to appear. 'PickFile()' brings up an operating system dialog, and if you are happy with that, you can just make a new (blank) application, and paste in your existing code as shown below. Then 'running' the application will bring up the familiar dialog.
Re: Application File Explorer callHere's how I did it. I don't think there is an app-builder object for the system dialogs, so make a button and add a script:
Right-click the button to add a script
the script looks like this; in my case I was selecting a directory, not a file. You'll need your own variables to keep track of the file selected.
The DirPress function's boiler-plate is added by app-builder. You fill in what you want to happen.
