I'm trying to import data into a JMP table from the log file generated by powermetrics, which is a utility in MacOS that reports information about the computer like CPU frequency, power, etc. I would like to run powermetrics so that it collects this data every 5 seconds for a period of time. Then I'd like to import the file to JMP to be able to plot the various measures over time.
There are two options for the log file, but neither is straightforward to import. One is a person-readable format and the other is a plist file, which seems to be a format similar to but not compatible with XML. I have attached samples of each type of log file, which are just a few seconds of output during normal operation.
It seems like a script could be created to extract the different information from the file but I don't have any experience with text parsing tools in JSL (or any other programming language). Can anyone point me to a good resource on handling this kind of importing into JMP or some other method I haven't considered?
Thanks
Brian
Hey @BrianGivens, Do you have an example of your desired output?
