How many observations are needed for Bivariate Fit Line Report?Hello,
I noticed that my Bivariate analysis is not providing a summary of fit and ANOVA for data sets with 3 observations. You can see in the Image below that some information is missing, notably the F Ratio and p value for the ANOVA section. Is it possible to make JMP run this analysis with just 3 data points? I am able to do it in other statistical software (GraphPad Prism).

AnalyticsGraphicsRe: How many observations are needed for Bivariate Fit Line Report?@DanAlexander the particular instance you share has no variation (R-square =1 and RMSE = 0). The F-ratio is calculated as the the Model Mean Square/Error Mean Square and in this case it would be undefined (18/0). Do you see this same behavior when your model does show variation for fitting three points?Re: How many observations are needed for Bivariate Fit Line Report?Ah! Thank you, I automatically assumed that it was due to an insufficient number of observations, but you're correct, there cannot be an analysis of variance without having variance in your data set! This was simply my mistake.
