formula validation column not re-randomizing when re-running a platformI want to bootstrap the SVM but it doesn't have that function. So I resigned to do a "poor man's multiple validation" by creating a formula validation column and then rerun the SVM multiple times. But the formula column is not being regenerated every time. No matter if I relaunch the platform, or use the red triangle to relaunch, or use the red triangle to redo the same analysis. Only if I force the data table to re-run formulas does it change. I though that the whole idea of the formula validation column was to be recreated every time one reuses it, but it can't seem to be able to have it do that. Any insights on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Uriel.
Predictive Modeling and Machine LearningRe: formula validation column not re-randomizing when re-running a platformPerhaps the built-in bootstrap or simulate feature might help your SVM validation effort.
Re: formula validation column not re-randomizing when re-running a platformI think the formula in the validation column is a normal formula and behaves like this.
I would not expect formulas to be recalculated every time, so what should be the trigger for this? It would be waste of ressources. Only if there is a change in the data table, that lets expect different results, JMP would recalculate.
So I think the way @Thierry_S outlined, to literally tell JMP to recalculate the formula, is the best solution for this.
Re: formula validation column not re-randomizing when re-running a platformHi,
Have you considered adding the the following statement in your script: col << Eval Formula; ?
I'm not sure that this is the problem but I assume that you have some kind of random number assignment to your validation column which needs to be recalculated for each cycle of your script.
