Webex issues and zscaler web browser (on a Mac)

Hi SE community-

I had been having some random issue with webex that I recently got resolved and I thought I'd share it here. I'm on a mac computer, and I'd get to 98% in a webex but it wouldn't connect. Not always, but often enough it's a problem.

I'd try random things like VPN, restarting, etc. Turns out, SAS is runnig a program called zscaler on your browser. This program which would keep your browser safe from going to bad sites, will also mess up the proxy server hand-off for webex.

The solution is to use the zscaler un-installer. I initially received this from the help desk, just fyi.

So I do NOT need to use VPN for webex - I can just go directly to the webex site and log in from there (good to know for onsite visits). What I don't know is at what frequency zscaler re-installs itself.

I run into a z-scaler issue occasionally as well on my Windows machine.

Also, another suggestion from IT to work around zscaler without uninstalling it (but I haven't tried this):

if you go to a non ssl site such as bing.com and then to webex (an ssl site) it will work

I ran into this a while back - they stopped pushing it due to the issues that you are describing.  After you run it once, it should be gone for good unless they’ve changed something recently.
