John Sall, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, SAS Institute Inc.
[Announcement summary]
When we, the JMP development team, develop analytical capabilities, we must decide which of the following is important:
- Make JMP stronger by building muscle
- Make JMP more sexy (make users more excited?)
- JMP relieves user's pain (reduces user's itching and burden?)
Longer English words that start with "A" are anabolic (anabolic, muscle-building), aphrodisiac (aphrodisiac), and analgesic (analgesic). Which of these three should we go to? The speaker believes that he should aim for a "painkiller". We believe that "painkillers" should be the central driving force in the development of JMP.
Of course, these three are not incompatible. Pain may be relieved by adding sexy and powerful features. However, "painkillers" are important. Because when pain occurs, we get stuck and unmotivated. When you're in pain, you can't fully read what the data is telling us, and you stop there.
