I should probably know this, but I don't. When you take notes in a journal, how do you export the notes with the journal? Trying to export journal to rtf or ppt, the notes are not included in the export. TIA
When you say "take notes in a journal", are you right clicking on the Journal and selecting "Add Text item"?
Thanks Jim, It's actually not me so I'm guessing they are using the annotate tool (I can't get that to work). They take notes on my lectures in the journal and the notes don't get exported. Right click in the journal does nothing for me...
I assumed that they are adding text items to the journal, too. Here is a quick example using the process of selecting File > New > Journal, adding an outline item, and then adding several text items to the outline. I saved it as a journal:
I saved it as RTF file (opened in MS Word):
I saved it as PowerPoint:
@Mark_Bailey perhaps I don't understand your post...are you saying you must select the text box and export it separately from the rest of the journal? That would be ridiculous. I know how to export a journal, it is the note "boxes" that are not getting exported.
No, I just meant that if one adds "notes" to a journal as text items, they should be saved with the journal in any format that you choose.
I don't use annotations (the graphics tool) for notes, so that circumstance did not occur to me. @txnelson probably knows better than I do.
I have done a little bit of investigation of a Journal with a graph in it and my findings are:
Given this Journal Image one can see text box entry from the 3 scenarios above
The two images below are the outputs from a PPT showing that items 1 and 3 from above will export to PPT. Even to the extent that the right click text box makes room by adding a new slide to get the text to be exported.
As usual, thanks for your help Jim. Much appreciated. I get nothing when I right click outside of the picture on a Mac. I also have no problem with journaling the annotate box on a Mac regardless of where it is. Must be something different between Mac and Windows...
