Easy screencast ideasShouldn't it be easy to record a 30-second video illustrating a JMP technique or solution, and send it to a customer? Or post it as a community blog post? I feel like I waste hours writing emails... "Go to the Analyze menu, now choose Distribution...".
Does anybody have a good solution for recording screencast videos on Windows? Google suggested using the Microsoft Game Bar that's native to Windows 10, but our IT settings don't allow us to use this. Grrr.
Re: Easy screencast ideas@Jordan_Hiller, Yes this is a great technique and completely agree building up a library of 30-second to 5-minute how-to videos would be great. I have used Camtasia in the past and posted the videos to my personal blog for sharing. Camtasia is great for video editing very easy to use. If you don't have Camtasia another option that @HydeMiller shared with me is to use Teams live event. It seems to work really well for recording and sharing ironically not well at all for live events. It also allows for captions, which is helpful for Spanish and Portuguese while I have been working with Latin America. The recordings are stored in the cloud by teams, so you don't have to deal with the sharing aspect. I am happy to walk you through this if that is an option you would like to explore more. It is not as intuitive as Zoom.
Re: Easy screencast ideasBefore creating the video, I would encourage you to check out the videos in the Learn JMP section of the Community, especially the Short Videos section. If you don't find what you need and think the video you're creating will be beneficial to a larger audience, then contact @julian , @ryandewitt , or @gail_massari so that one can be created and put in the Learn JMP area.
Re: Easy screencast ideas@Ryan_Gilmore, Thanks for sharing this resource. A couple of questions
1. Is there any way to turn on captions for these videos and have them in different languages? A lot of the content I have created has been for Latin America and in need of translation to Spanish and Portuguese. I use Teams with the caption features to do this.
2. The community gives an error for people who open videos in Chrome. Any update on getting this resolved?
3. A short video on Stability analysis would be a good addition.
Re: Easy screencast ideasThanks @Ryan_Gilmore , let me clarify: I love those short videos, but what I'm specifically asking about are the one-off oddball requests that I get a lot of. Things that are easy to show, but not high-frequency needs covered by the video library.
I'll try using quick Zoom recordings for this, as suggested by @Jason_Wiggins above. Thanks all.
