This is 2020. It goes without saying that Winter Thanks will not be the same this year. We won’t be baking and cooking and hosting our SAS friends in a festive environment filled with music and joy and kind words of appreciation. It is simply not possible.
We will, however, create a video message that each JMP staffer can send directly to the people in other divisions who make their work life better and more successful.

What is Winter Thanks?
If you’re new to the idea of Winter Thanks, it is historically a day in early December when JMP staff all over the world show appreciation to the SAS employees who produce our webcasts, print our brochures, deliver our mail, make our travel arrangements, help us hire great people, process our paperwork, keep us legal, and so on.
In Cary, this would have been our 12th year of hosting an annual potluck lunch where we serve homemade savory dishes and sweet desserts. Those of us with musical talent have been known to serenade our guests with beaufitul holiday music. And John Sall always says a few words of thanks to show our appreciation to the greater SAS community.
The Plan for This Year
On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, we will celebrate Winter Thanks!

Showing appreciation is as important as ever...maybe even more so in this difficult year. So our plan is to create a Winter Thanks video that includes these pieces.
- A recorded Zoom musical piece by musicians in the division.
- A recorded message from John Sall.
- A bunch of recorded “thank you” messages by JMP employees all over the world.
On December 9, all JMP staff members will receive the link to the video. On that day, you’ll want to send the link to the SAS staffers who have helped you be successful this year. Be sure to incorporate a personal note of thanks.
And because we can’t contribute food for a feast, you may opt to contribute to your favorite charity in honor of these people. If you choose to do that, be sure to mention the gift in the personalized note you send.
Please Participate

Everyone in the division – no matter where you are -- will be given an opportunity to participate. Here’s how.
One good thing about creating a virtual video gift is that it can be global. And we sincerely hope that you will choose to participate. THANK YOU!

Working on videos today, @Diana_Levey! For external partners, vendors, customers, are we to use the SAS holiday greetings or will we be creating ones of our own?

Great question @katie_stone : I suggest we use one of the beautiful cards SAS created. That's my plan for partners and special customers.
