[Announcement summary]
Our main research themes are automobile traffic and atmospheric environment, as well as atmospheric environment and human health effects, and automobile traffic volume is one of the important information. Cross-section traffic volume, which is one of the indicators of automobile traffic volume, is information on traffic volume by vehicle detectors, etc., and data every 5 minutes at each point is released. Currently, information on cross-sectional traffic volume at about 2,400 locations in Tokyo is open to the public. The cross-sectional traffic volume is important as an index for grasping the automobile traffic volume in a relatively wide range in terms of area.
It is probable that the state of emergency due to the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) changed the socio-economic activities significantly and affected the automobile traffic. This time, we analyzed changes in automobile traffic volume in Tokyo before and after the period of emergency declaration, using cross-sectional traffic volume as an index. We also examined changes in air quality during the same period. Jmp was used as the main tool for analysis. By using the data table editing functions such as jmp's table join and concatenation functions, and the graph function linked to the data, the analysis could be performed efficiently. In this report, we will introduce an example of our use of jmp.
