Kulicke & Soffa (30 Sep 2020 – Mid-Atlantic)
Kulicke & Soffa (K&S), a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and electronic assembly solutions supporting the global automotive, consumer, communications, computing, and industrial segments, recently added three JMP Pro licenses. K&S had previously bought six JMP licenses in February after an onsite visit to cover new features.
Tim Pierce explains what happened next: “After the February visit, K&S’s Director of Engineering turned her attention to the Functional Data Explorer platform in JMP Pro. She assigned a key direct report to work on validating the use case for a high-priority business challenge. With a detailed evaluation document prepared and problem statement identified, Kulicke & Soffa evaluated JMP Pro’s ability to predict early contamination defect classification for their wafer pads based on the data streaming signals via the 30-day JMP Pro trial. The trial validated that they could isolate defects earlier in their manufacturing process, which resulted in much less waste/scrap and tremendous cost savings. With several in-depth working sessions during the trial period completed and further learning during a public webinar, JMP Discovered: Analyzing Sensor Data with Functional Data Explorer, the classification model with functional inputs produced outstanding results and gave the Director of Engineering the ammunition she needed to seek purchase approval prior to the budget funds coming available in the new fiscal year (October).”

JARLLYTEC (29 Jul 2020 – HMT T2)
JARLLYTEC, the Taipei-based company that produces hinges used in laptops, cell phones and optic fiber products, recently added five JMP licenses. JARLLYTEC had been using Minitab but had hit a wall. After understanding JARLLYTEC’s pain points, Tyson Wu demonstrated the difference between Minitab and JMP, particularly with reliability issues, in a clear and informative comparison. Next, Jess Chen arranged for JARLLYTEC to begin a free trial and then followed up with online courses to help engineers master JMP. Tyson says, “Finally, they understood how JMP could improve their quality while saving time. They plan to use the five licenses for quality and in R&D.”
