dynamic data filter

Question

Hi everybody
I got a question related to table data filter.
Lets say i have 2 level of data: type and subtype, each is in a different column.
I'd like to create a data filter that shows both type and subtype but that only subtypes related to the selected type will be displayed.
This will prevent selecting an empty group.

Any ideas if it's possible?

I was hoping to find a way to do it with the data filter, but this works great as well (i'll just add the show\hide functionality by myself).
