Dear team,
Our next European Statistically Speaking event, Data Visualization for Scientists and Engineers, will be presented online on the 19th of November. Feel free to invite your connections. You will find bellow all the needed details.
Moderator: Malcolm
Thought leader: Alberto Cairo (Professor at the University of Miami, author of The Functional Art, The Truthful Art and How Charts Lie. Previously, head of information graphics at media publications in Spain and Brazil.
Other Panelists:
- Branca Almeida Silva, Formulation Development Coordinator - Differentiated Technologies, Bluepharma
- György Trefán, Process Developer, Coloplast
- Simone Cianchini, WW Innovation & Improvements Quality Manager, Electronics Business Unit, MARELLI
The goal is to position EDA as a tool that is used at every step of the data analysis workflow (including DoE) from data preparation to uncovering patterns in our data to supplement subject matter knowledge in decision making to helping frame new questions to ask via the collection of new data (possibly with the aid of DOE) to presenting that single graph that helps other stakeholders instantly get the message in our data. It is an intrinsic part of the data analysis process whether data comes from a DOE or was previously collected for other purposes (and is stored in a database or other repository). The personal wins and benefits are therefore part of our wider message.
EDA is part of our data analytical and DOE workflow that helps:
- Meet your goals, predictably, every time
- Give more time for yourself, family and less work stress overall
- Increase development capacity
- Boost manufacturing productivity
Management commitment and support is needed to help scale the gains.
Interactive EDA Definition:
Dynamically linked graphs with the aid of brushing, filtering and zoom/drill-in/out capabilities:
- Assists and speeds data cleaning, preparation, derivation/transformation.
- Helps uncover the relationships in our data, with or without subsequent statistical analysis.
- Used in conjunction with subject matter knowledge to increase our understanding.
- Can help frame new questions or hypotheses to be answered (with or without new data).
- A workflow we go through to reveal the graph or graphs that objectively conveys the message in our data that is shared with other stakeholders.
Scenario:
- Lost in a sea of data.
- It is difficult and time consuming to explore relationships among a large number of variables using static spreadsheet graphs.
- Save time and improve insight by utilising dynamic visualizations to explore relationships in data and see connections even if many factors are involved.
