Notes From Steering Committee Call on 25Feb20

• Katie Stone reviewed conference property.

 

• Logistics
  • Steering committee will be introduced during the opening session on Wednesday, 11 March.
  • There will be reserved seats in the front of the plenary room. Please look for the “reserved” signs on chairs in the front of the auditorium. 
  • Incoming steering committee members will be sitting in this reserved section on Thursday and will be introduced on Thursday. 

 

• Pre-conference meeting will be in conference hotel, Boardroom A, 5th Floor Tuesday, 10 March from 16:30 – 17:30. 
  • Please pick up your conference materials at registration on Tuesday from 8:00 – 17:00.

 

• Post conference meeting will be in conference hotel, Boardroom A, 5th Floor, 17:00 – 18:00 on Thursday, 12 March.
  • There will be pre-signed copies of David Spiegelhalter ‘s book for you at the post conference meeting since his book signing is during this meeting.

 

• Soon, breakout paper introductions will be posted in the community. Once you receive them, please review documents and find your name. Please arrive to your breakout room 15 minutes before the presentation starts.
  • Please meet the presenter, make sure you know how to pronounce names, and meet the JMP staff room host.
  • Each room will be staffed by a JMP employee who is your go to person in case you need something, and they will hold up timecards at the back of the room to keep the presenter on time.
  • Please be sure to check with the presenter(s) to make sure there are no last-minute adjustments needed.  
  • Please note that some of you will need to give instructions after the presentation – lunch instructions, dinner instructions, etc.  
  • If you are double booked for introductions or have any questions, please let me know.

 

• Each steering committee member should have a question ready for the paper presentation they are introducing so there is no lull when Q&A begins.

 

• Below are the lunch table/birds of a feather topics for Discovery. We will have a table for each topic. Feel free to sit at one of these tables to help with conversation. The topics will not be the same each day. There will also be blank signs at tables to start your own topic.

• Breakout Presenters Meeting on Wednesday, 11 March, from 8 – 8:30 am in Schwabing 6.
  • Kevin, Björn, Philip, and Birgitte have volunteered to run this meeting.  Anyone else?
  • Worked well last year.
  • Please coordinate amongst yourselves for this meeting.
  • Presenters will not be able to test their laptops in the breakout rooms since the SAS technical staff will be getting ready for John Sall's plenary session. Presenters will be notified to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled presentation to test laptops. SAS technical staff will be available at this time.

Hi All,

 

I regret to confirm that the travel restrictions have come into effect and as such neither myself nor my colleague will be allowed travel to Germany.

 

It would be much appreciated if the other Committee members could look at the breakout sessions which were delegated to me and share them amongst yourselves.

In addition I was due assist in the Breakout Presenters Meeting on Wednesday morning. I would be indebted if someone could take on this responsibility also.

 

My apologies for all this extra work.

 

I intend to follow as much as possible on the live feeds.

Just a brief feedback on the issue of logging into the app: the iPhone isn't the culprit. I used a different e-mail address (domain name) for logging in than the one I used to register. Surprise surprise, if you do it right, it works.
