Academic Team Update
The Academic Team has been busy in 2020. Year to date, the Academic Team has some impressive numbers to share:
- New courses that have adopted JMP in Americas and EMEA: 93
- Additional professors teaching with JMP: 63
- Schools using JMP: 54 (16 in the top 100 schools; 10 in the top 200; 6 in the top 300)
- Additional students per year using JMP: ~7,500
News from Asia: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) regulates pharmacy education and influences the curriculum guidelines for more than 600 pharmacy colleges throughout the country. Murali Anandamurthy contacted the president of PCI and arranged a presentation about JMP and its capabilities specifically for pharmaceutical sciences. Aiming to make JMP a strong and compelling statistical analysis tool for modern pharmacy education across India, the Academic Team proposed a plan, which included:
- Complementary support of JMP Pro for two months for pharmacy institutes.
- Assistance with PCI’s syllabus revision by recommending advanced statistical concepts and applications to be incorporated in the new one.
- Workshops and webinars that focused on JMP and its applications to the pharmaceutical industry.
PCI accepted Murali’s proposal to collaborate with JMP for these initiatives. Curt Hinrichs says, “We are also confident we will be onboarding a few institutes to our JMP Academic Suite, thus establishing JMP use within pharmacy schools and, eventually, within the important pharmaceutical industry in India. These upcoming initiatives will be a team effort and not possible without the support and advice of Melisa Muhamed, Ruth Hummel, Volker Kraft, Kevin Potcner, Rob Lievense and Byron Wingerd.”
News from Europe: Established in 1919, Poznan University of Medical Sciences is one of Poland's top medical faculties. Its main fields, in both research and teaching activities, are the stability of drugs, pharmacokinetics and biochemistry, the synthesis and analysis of new therapeutic agents, phytochemistry, toxicology and pharmacology, and health promotion. Volker Kraft and Paolo Chiappa provided several demos and evaluation licenses resulting in a new JMP Academic Suite license to be used across the campus, as well as the university’s adoption of JMP Pro when teaching its students.
News from the Americas: In Q3, 22 new JMP Academic Suite licenses were secured, including Rice University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Kettering University, Colorado School of Mines, City University of New York (CUNY), University of Louisville, and Wichita State, to name just a few. Pany Allen helped the University of North Texas get its first JMP Academic Suite license for its Master of Advanced Data Analytics program, where approximately 350 students will use JMP Pro per year.
Expanding the adoption and use of JMP is a primary goal of the academic program. Chuck London reports that the University of Missouri at Columbia recently expanded its use of JMP Pro within the Industrial and Systems Engineering department to two new courses, Engineering Statistics and Design and Analysis of Engineering Experiments courses.

JMP Live Data Point
All JMP staff should take a moment to take the first survey in the JMP Live Data Point before Discovery begins next week. Julian Parris and Sara Doudt need as much data as they can get to include in their visualizations. Make sure to come back each day of Discovery to answer new questions and provide more data for everyone to play with.
Discovery Registration is Still Open!
Discovery is next week, but since it’s virtual, registration is still open. Give any procrastinating customers and prospects one more nudge so they don’t miss out on all the great presentations and conversations. www.jmp.com/discovery-americas
Be sure to keep an eye on InsideJMP next week for links to everything you need to know to help staff Discovery. Diana Levey will be sending out emails with important staffing info so make sure you read them.
