JMP Genomics Training and Resources
A huge thank you to Chris Kirchberg, Geoff Mann, Ben Francis and Ruth Hummel for sharing best practices in targeting and engaging JMP Genomics prospects. Some key takeaways from this training session:
- JMP Genomics is for wide data: Many more columns than rows (thousands of columns/genes).
- JMP Genomics is for statistical analysis and visualization of Expression and Genotype data, not bioinformatic analysis or alignment of genetic sequences.
- JMP Genomics is targeted towards Crops Sciences, Biomarker Discovery, Translational Medicine, Target Identification, Basic Research in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, and Companion Diagnostic Panel Discovery groups.
- JMP Genomics runs on Windows OS only (but one can use VMWare, Parallels, or Remote Desktop/Citrix if a person has a Mac).
- JMP Genomics evaluations are just like JMP Pro Evaluations.
- There are still a lot of people still using MS Excel for genomics research. And there are a lot of papers/publications, including this one, that talks about how genomics research that uses Excel is prone to errors.
If you missed this training session, you can always watch the recording and review some of the other other Genomics resources such as the Genomics FAQ, Genomics internal resources page, Genomics external resources page, and What's New in JMP Genomics 10 page. For more information on other trainings, please refer to the training schedule.
Industry Resource Pages
In a continuation to build out our industry based sales tools, we have created a Chemical resources page and a Pharmaceutical and Biotech resources page. Each of these pages house the top resources for these particular industries. We hope to have similar pages complete for CP&G and Semiconductor by the end of the month. You can always find these industry resources from the product management index page under 'Industry'.

JMP Live Data Point - We Need your Help!
As Jeff and Diana mentioned on their Discovery Americas all-hands meeting last week, one of the activities this year for discovery is the JMP Live Data Point. This is a virtual continuation of the String Theory Wall to have Discovery attendees see how easy and fun it can be to publish and interact with data on JMP Public. We are asking the JMP staff to get involved as well. Here's how:
- We are asking all staff to fill out the daily surveys that will be posted each day on this community page. This will ensure that we have enough data to make for more interesting visualizations AND it is a fun way to be able to find yourself in the data.
- We are asking any JMP employee to take the data from this community page and create visualizations to then publish on JMP Public.
If you have questions please reach out to Sara Doudt or Julian Parris.
