Presenter Tips and TricksIn our post conference steering committee meeting in St. Louis, we discussed putting together a list of tips and tricks for Discovery presenters. Here are a few things to get us started. Please add your suggestions.
Discovery Paper Presenter Tips and Tricks:
- Spend time demoing JMP
- State what version of JMP is being used, and if using JMP Pro
- Provide audience with specific takeaways
Re: Presenter Tips and TricksKathy,
I would add to the list,
- Restate questions that are asked for the audience to hear
- If using saved graphs, make sure the colors from the projector are similar to your computer screen
- Make sure fonts are readable on a large screen, not just on a computer screen
- Discuss what business decision was able to be made with the work that was done
- If using the microphone, make sure you're there a few minutes ahead to test out the sound
I'm sure there are more, but those have been the helpful items i have seen.

Re: Presenter Tips and TricksTo expand on "Demoing" JMP - don't use scripts to do all the stuff as that offers no learnings to people. Treat it almost like a cooking show ... show us the actual work you need to do and only use a script if you need that "out of the oven" speed to keep the presentation rolling.
And if demoing JMP in this manner it also becomes much more imporant to do run throughs for time. I often find that when I do trainings and demo JMP it is very easy to do some great demos that fall very short of your desired outcome in the allotted time.
Specific Takeaways: This is a great way for presenters to also point out tips/tricks along the way. I've been using JMP 14 years now and I'm still learning new tips/tricks.
