Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) (30 Apr and 31 Jul 2020 – HMT T1)
Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), the Taiwan-based provider of comprehensive semiconductor assembly and test services, recently acquired 20 JMP licenses in two deals in 2020.
SPIL first bought five JMP licenses in April to help its process integration department find the key factors that influenced process quality. Orcas Chen says, “After using Fit Y by X to screen the potential key factors, SPIL engineers then use Variability Chart to determine the weight of each factor and Fit Model to confirm the R2 of the real key factors. Engineers quickly realized using this analysis in JMP saved them considerable time, which improved the overall manufacturing process.”
Given this initial success, SPIL added 15 more licenses in July. Orcas concludes, “We plan on providing additional customer care activities in Q4 to encourage SPIL to add even more licenses.”

Hi-P (Suzhou) Electronics Technology (30 Apr 2020 – East China T2)
Hi-P (Suzhou) Electronics Technology, the Suzhou division of the Singapore-based supplier of electromechanical modules to the telecommunications, consumer electronics and computing industries, recently added four JMP licenses.
A JMP user since 2015, Hi-P Suzhou contacted Yuting Shi in December 2019 to see about upgrading to JMP 15. Yuting says, “I learned that their quality department uses JMP frequently, nearly every day. I introduced them to the new features of JMP 15 and recommended that they move to a JMP annual license. After inviting Hi-P’s engineers to join a JMP webinar, I let them try JMP 15. They were impressed by the detailed and beautiful reports JMP 15 produces. I also told them about the many add-ins available in the JMP Community that can help them analyze their data better. They found this useful and will continue to study JMP's hidden functions. As a result, Hi-P bought four JMP licenses.”
But Yuting sees additional possibilities with Hi-P. “I asked if other Hi-P factories in China would be interested in JMP. The Suzhou engineers said that the Nantong factory also needed better data analysis tools. I contacted engineers in Hi-P Nantong's quality department and showed them how JMP 15 could be used for better quality control. As a result, Hi-P Nantong is currently evaluating JMP 15 and plans to buy it in the future,” adds Yuting.
