Can copy from a Word doc and paste into a JMP cell in EA8?<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />On EA8, I have been unable to copy and paste a line of text into a single JMP cell. I am not sure if this is my computer being buggy or if EA8 is not allowing me to do so. Using this to play with text analysis features....

Re: Can copy from a Word doc and paste into a JMP cell in EA8?Thanks, Scott. That helps.
It's not just your computer. It's the way that Word is putting text on the clipboard.
It puts a bullet, a tab character, and then the text on the clipboard. When you go to paste that in JMP we interpret the tab as a column separator (we have to because that what Excel and most other programs use to delimit columns) and put the bullet in one column and the rest of the text in another if we can.
I tried the same thing with JMP 12 and got the same behavior, so nothing has changed with JMP.
Your best bet is to change the formatting of the text in Word to remove the bulleted list formatting before copying it. I'll ask some other folks to look at the options in Word to see if there's any way to get it to put only the selected text and not the bullet on the clipboard.

Re: Can copy from a Word doc and paste into a JMP cell in EA8?Jeff- thank you for the fast response.
I tried it again and can provide more details- if I enter text directly into Word, I can copy and paste into JMP. However, when I try to copy text that is within a bullet point list, it does not seem to work. It simply brings over an icon of the bullet, but not the text itself. Is this just my computer?
Thanks,
Scott
Re: Can copy from a Word doc and paste into a JMP cell in EA8?I saw that you reported this to the JMP beta program as well and I'm sure they'll be investigating as well, but I tried copying and pasting from Word to JMP 13 and didn't have any difficulties.
The screen capture movie below shows what I tried. Can you describe in more detail exactly what you attempted? What did the text look like in Word? Was it part of a table? Can you try with a simple Word document where you type the text in yourself and then copy it?
What did you click on in JMP before selecting Paste?
