Polpharma Biologics (29 Jun 2020 – Other Europe & Africa)
Polpharma Biologics, the Poland-based biopharmaceutical company that specializes in cell line development, product and process development, clinical manufacturing, commercial scale production and regulatory affairs, recently added one JMP Pro and five JMP licenses.
An existing JMP user, Polpharma Biologics recognized it was not extracting the full value from the software. Polpharma felt it wasted too much time on R&D of the formulation process, which meant missed deadlines and unresolved defects.
The sale happened, paradoxically, as a result of the JMP champion leaving Polpharma. Kremena Glaβer shares how this unusual situation and her ability to speak Spanish sealed the deal: “Our champion, head statistician Agnieszka Tomczyk, left the company very suddenly, as did the R&D manager, Nicholas Hunt. We had presented JMP Pro and its FDE functionality to Agnieszka back in March, but neither she nor Nicholas appreciated it. Amid the company's turmoil, we found another JMP user and new champ, David Bulnes, who was the head of formulation development. David was very open and honest with me about how frustrated he was with the problems and challenges within the company. He was cautious, however, and only felt comfortable sharing his thoughts with me over the phone in Spanish (he is Mexican) so no one around him could understand what he was saying. So speaking Spanish with him was a crucial door opener.
“I asked him if they had functional data that they were struggling to analyze, and he confirmed that they did. I introduced him to Mahmoud Hammoud, who did an exceptional FDE demo just for David and no one else. David instantly saw the value of JMP Pro and recognized that this new technology would save them significant development time right from the start. After the demo, David recommended JMP Pro to the new R&D manager the next day. Two days later, the budget for JMP Pro was approved, meaning the whole deal happened in three days.”
Armed with JMP Pro, Polpharma hopes to drastically reduce its formulation development cycle and deliver products on time and with a zero-defect rate.
