In addition to more color options in the user interface, JMP 7 also adds more robust color control in JSL. JMP's encoding of palette colors as positive numbers has been expanded to encode 24-bit colors as negative numbers. Numbers representing colors in this way are called JSL color values. All places that take a color in JSL , such as Pen Color(), will also take a JSL color value.
The scripting language adds the following operators to manipulate JSL color values:
- RGB Color
- Create a color from red, green and blue components
- HLS Color
- Create a color from hue, saturation and lightness components
- Heat Color
- Create a color using one of JMP's color themes
- Color to RGB
- Extract red, green and blue components from a color value
- Color to HLS
- Extract hue, saturation and lightness components from a color value
