Qualifying Academic vs. CommercialIn order to qualify accounts as academic, they have to meet all conditions:
- License owner is a Degree Granting Institution (DGI) *
- End-users are employed (Professor or Researcher) or enrolled (Student) at the DGI
- Software use for non-commercial purposes ** under the control of the DGI
*) This does typically exclude research centers (Frauenhofer, Max-Planck, Helmholtz) and medical centers (hospitals) from academic status.
**) Includes teaching and learning activities and academic research, but excludes administrative use (IR = Institutional Research).
See attached PDF for details.
Academic LicensingRe: Qualifying Academic vs. CommercialYou are correct – multiple campuses require a special license, which is called “system-wide”. We never sold a system-wide academic license in EMEA, but India and the US did.
I would check with Curt for license conditions and fees.
Re: Qualifying Academic vs. CommercialI'm wondering Campus license coverage.
For example, there are ABC university Tokyo campus and ABC university Osaka campus. The both campuses belong to ABC university. In this case, Does 1 Campus license cover both Tokyo campus and Osaka campus? (As you know Tokyo and Osaka are very far each other even in Japan.)
