Stack without duplicating numbers in all other columnsHey All,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to stack one column without creating duplicated numbers in the other columns. See attached pictures for what I'm trying to do.
Re: Stack without duplicating numbers in all other columnsThanks all, this helped a ton! The select matching cells worked the best for what I needed.
Re: Stack without duplicating numbers in all other columnsthere is onr method maybe you `d like to try.
Step1: Select 2,3-right click-select matching cells
step2: click the title which you want to delete duplicating number
Step3: right click--Clear
then you will get you want as i understand.

Re: Stack without duplicating numbers in all other columnsCould you explain in more detail the end-goal of this data table? There might be a better approach to setting it up than creating empty records.
What are 1, 2, & 3, and what is being measured? Why does "1" only correspond with the field entires for Height and Stalk Diameter, and not 2 or 3?
Are the empties going to be filled in eventually? Manually, automatically?
Re: Stack without duplicating numbers in all other columnsIn JMP 14, they're adding a feature under Row Selection to "Select Duplicate Rows", which would solve this problem quickly. I'm guessing you don't want to wait for JMP 14, though.
I have a method for doing this that's not too annoying to implement, but it's a little bit hacky.
- Add a new column named Index, with Initialize Data set to Sequence Data
- Add a new column named Min Index for Rep with a Formula that reads "Col Minimum(Index, Rep)"
- As long as that's sufficiently unique to correctly identify a single entity. You could do "Col Minimum(Index, Rep, Treatment)". Additional parameters separated by commas act like By groups and further separate it down.
- Highlight the column headers for the columns you want to remove duplicates from (the entire column should highlight).
- Go to Rows > Row Selection > Select Where...
- On the left, click Index, on the right, check Compare Column and click Min Index for Rep. Click "Add Condition" toward the bottom of the dialog box. Click OK.
- Invert the selection by right-clicking a selected row header (far left of the table) and clicking Invert Selection, or go to Rows > Row Selection > Invert Row Selection.
- Type the Delete key on your keyboard.
